Top-Level Domains for the Russian Capital

.MOSCOW and .МОСКВА (Cyrillic string can be translated to English as "Moscow") – new top-level domains intended for the City of Moscow. The project was started in 2010 and today is being coordinated by the Foundation for Assistance for Internet Technologies and Infrastructure Development (FAITID) with the official support of the Department of Information Technology of Moscow.

The Project Goals

  • To create online brand of the city of Moscow
  • To attract additional audience to Moscow-related websites
  • To provide a basis for the unified information space of the city

Implementation of the city top-level domains is a worldwide trend. Except Moscow London, Paris, Berlin, New York and other major cities of the world applied for their own domain extensions.

When the Domains Will Become Available?

The names’ registration in the .MOSCOW and .МОСКВА TLDs started 10 June 2014. 

Who Can Apply for a Name?

Registration is available to anyone on a first-come first-served basis.

What Is the Registration Cost?

The registration cost for registrants is defined by registrars accredited for the .MOSCOW and .МОСКВА strings.
