Dmitry Chistov, head analyst of the Russian Association of Electronic Communications

Moscow – one of the biggest cities of the world and big economical and political center. I suppose that it’s quite logically and correct for Moscow to have own TLDs. First of all it will release .RU domain, because most of registrations there are made by the residents of Moscow. So, when .MOSCOW and .МОСКВА will be approved, Muscovites will be able to leave .RU to Russian regions.

Secondly, it is wrong to decline the opportunity to apply for .MOSCOW and .МОСКВА, because Berlin,
New York, Paris, and London have already decided to get their own TLDs.
